Escola Superior de Educação de Portalegre

Courses to Foreign Students

Up to 2006/07, EASMUS students attended a programme especially designed for them. It included::

These modules will continue to be offered from 2007/08. However, as a result of a project funded by the European Commission (TEAM –Teaching in Advanced Multinational Environments), a new set of modules will also be offered. They include:

With this enlarged choice of modules, the idea is not to replace the students’ choice of regular courses at the host institution but to offer them an alternative programme of studies taught in an international language such as English that can suit their interests, particularly where regular courses in English are not available.
This way, language barriers can be overcome, by enabling students the opportunity to learn different subject areas through the medium of English, and simultaneously, to receive formal teaching of the language and culture of the host institution. This will allow students for more frequent and richer exchanges with their colleagues of other countries, since language will no longer be an obstacle to mobility.
The possibilities offered of receiving formal instruction in the adequate modules, in the language of the host institution will serve the superior aim of contributing to the knowledge of the less widely used and less taught languages in the European Union and thus to an enhancement of European culture and value.

Students can choose which modules they would like to follow – either from the “old” list or from the new one. Besides this special programme students can enroll in any other of the regular courses taught at the College, according to their wishes and depending on the language competencies. The College offers language courses taught by native speakers (English, French, German, Spanish) as well as courses in the area of Arts and Drama, where language problems can be easily overcome.
